Open Letter to Members of the Mummy Range Institute
PRESS RELEASE: INTENT TO SUE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY OF MIDDLE BALD MOUNTAIN RADIO FACILITY PROPOSAL
RED FEATHER LAKES, FEBRUARY 11, 2008: Concerning Larimer County’s
radio facility proposal for Middle Bald Mountain, the Mummy Range
Institute has found that:
-
The current NEPA process has been unlawfully influenced by the
project proponent and is legally invalid.
-
All independent evidence demonstrates that the proposed radio
facility would not increase public safety.
-
The county proponents have provided no physical verification or
scientific data to support their technical claims for the
proposed facility.
-
Advocates of the proposed facility have used public funds in an
irresponsible and wasteful manner.
-
The environmental damage caused by construction would be severe
and permanent.
For these reasons, we intend to legally challenge any forthcoming
Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) or other effort to bypass a
full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) within the NEPA process.
We call for Larimer County and the National Forest Service to
discontinue their pursuit of a radio facility on Middle Bald
Mountain, and we restate our preparedness and intent to defend the
interests of our community and our environment.
Get Involved
We encourage citizens of Larimer County to learn more about the project and speak up.
