Dear Valued Member:
By now you are almost certainly aware that on July 29,2008 the Larimer County Board of Commissioners removed funds from the Middle Bald Mountain Radio Tower project. While it is altogether possible that this project will raise its ugly shadow over the beautiful mountain in the future, for now we can celebrate a victory in stopping the foolish expenditure of funds for a tower that was never going to achieve the county’s goals at a reasonable cost, both in terms of taxpayer dollars and in degradation of the environment.
There are many people to thank for bringing this ill-conceived project to a close, not the least of which are the county commissioners. Commissioner Randy Eubanks deserves special thanks for taking the interest and time to study the proposal and ask penetrating questions that ultimately could not be satisfactorily answered by the project’s proponents.
However, in our opinion, the person(s) most deserving of our thanks are you, the members of the Mummy Range Institute, and other fellow citizens who refused to allow the government to force a bad and expensive idea on the taxpayers of Larimer County. You have created a brilliant example of how our democracy is supposed to work. For that the Directors of the Mummy Range Institute salute you. We thank you for your efforts and look forward to standing beside you in whatever future events in making the world a better place come our way.
Thanks for all that you do.
Board of Directors
